This project threatens not only the character of the home itself but also the integrity of the Hyannis Port Historic District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Hyannis Port is a truly unique place, deeply rooted in tradition and shared values. As a lifelong resident of this community for over 50 years (and many generations before me), living just a few blocks from this home, I believe the proposed expansion is excessive and out of scale with the lot and surrounding historic homes. Hyannis Port thrives because of a long-standing commitment to mutual consideration, care, and respect for its heritage. The substantial increase in size and scale would disrupt the architectural harmony of the neighborhood and set a concerning precedent for future development. The commission should carefully evaluate the potential impact on direct abutters, the broader community, and the historic district. Given this property’s highly visible location at the harbor’s entrance, its aesthetic and historical signiflcance should be given the utmost consideration. I respectfully urge the commission to review this proposal in detail and ensure that any modiflcations align with the historical and architectural integrity of Hyannis Port. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, Denise Shanahan 31 Wachusett Avenue Hyannis Port, MA 02647 PS -- I would miss walking around the block seeing those wonderful fiowers blooming out of the stone wall in front of this house. It adds to the charm/character of this unique village -- Denise Shanahan
