HomeMy WebLinkAboutOKH 05 28 25 Draft MinutesTown of Barnstable Old King’s Highway Historic District Committee MINUTES Wednesday, May 28, 2025, 6:30pm To all persons deemed interested or affected b y the Town of Barnstable's Old King’s Highway Historic District Act under Section 9 of Chapter 470, Acts of 1973 as amended. You are hereby notified that a hearing was held by remote participation via Zoom Meetings on the following applications: Bett McCarthy, Chair Present Ryan Coholan Absent Lesley Wallace Present Wendy Shuck, Clerk Present Erica Brown, Administrative Assistant Present A quorum being met, Chair Bett McCarthy called the hearing to order at 6:30 pm. The Chair explained the hearing and appeal process and invited the public to address the Committee and view the plans of interest when the application is called. ______________________________________________________________________________ Roll Call Chair Bett McCarthy called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm and took roll call. Attendance Roll Call: Lesley Wallace Wendy Shuck Bett McCarthy CONTINUED APPLICATIONS Devine, Brycson & Christina, 90 Pine Street, West Barnstable, Map 153, Parcel 024, Built 1972 Install 9.84kw solar panels that will not exceed roof panels but will add 6” to roof height. 24 panels total and two Tesla Powerwall 3 batteries. No structural. The applicant requested a continuance until the June 11th meeting. Wendy Shuck moved to continue the certificate of appropriateness application for Devine, Brycson & Christina, 90 Pine Street, West Barnstable, Map 153, Parcel 024, Built 1972 to install 9.84kw solar panels that will not exceed roof panels but will add 6” to roof height. 24 panels total and two Tesla Powerwall 3 batteries. Roll Call Vote Lesley Wallace- aye Wendy Shuck- aye Bett McCarthy- aye APPLICATIONS Draper, Matthew & Atton, Corinne, 2772 Main Street, Barnstable, Map 258, Parcel 065, Built 1829 Install traditional black wood shutters on the five windows facing Route 6A. Wendy Shuck moved to open the public hearing. Seconded by Lesley Wallace. Roll Call Vote Lesley Wallace- aye Wendy Shuck- aye Bett McCarthy- aye The applicants were not able to be in attendance tonight. If the Committee feels they have sufficient information to make a decision, then they may vote on this matter. Committee Discussion: Wendy- Felt the shutters are appropriate and that the shutters give the house character. Lesley- Appropriate. No concerns with the shutters. Bett- Noted that the architect who previously served on the Committee would require the shutters to have the metal hinges and it appears that this proposal has them. She had no concerns with this application. Wendy Shuck moved to close the public hearing. Seconded by Lesley Wallace. Roll Call Vote Lesley Wallace- aye Wendy Shuck- aye Bett McCarthy- aye Wendy Shuck moved to approve the certificate of appropriateness application for Draper, Matthew & Atton, Corinne, 2772 Main Street, Barnstable, Map 258, Parcel 065, Built 1829 to install traditional black wood shutters on the five windows facing Route 6A as submitted. Lesley Wallace seconded. Roll Call Vote Lesley Wallace- aye Wendy Shuck- aye Bett McCarthy- aye Vecchi, Paul & Jennifer, 1955 Main Street, West Barnstable, Map 216, Parcel 039/001, Built 1942 Add two 24” x 24” Marvin windows to front entry. Wendy Shuck moved to open the public hearing. Seconded by Lesley Wallace. Roll Call Vote Lesley Wallace- aye Wendy Shuck- aye Bett McCarthy- aye Paul Vecchi was in attendance for this item. Paul presented a proposal for two windows to be added to the sides of the front main entry. The windows will be Marvin windows 24” x 24”. The window will match other windows that are installed on other structures on the property. Committee Discussion: Wendy- Appropriate. Clarified that there will be one window on each side of the entryway. Paul confirmed. Lesley- Knows the house and noted that people would not see the windows looking straight at the entryway but from the roadsides you would. She felt that the windows are appropriate. Bett- Agreed with the Committee remarks. Appropriate. Wendy Shuck moved to close the public hearing. Seconded by Lesley Wallace.
