Project Narrative REQUEST FOR DETERMINATION OF APPLICABILITY #874 Main Street, Cotuit The applicant is pleased to submit a Request for Determination of Applicability application for the raze and replace of an existing cottage structure. The 22,328 square foot property is improved with a 3-bedroom dwelling cottage and detached garage. There is a state coastal bank at the flood zone elevation of 14 on the southern section of the property. Work Proposed within Resource Area The existing cottage is to be demolished and replaced with a new structure in the same general area. All work will take place outside the 50' buffer to the Coastal Bank. No work will take place within Priority/Estimated Habitat of endangered species. Land Subiect to Coastal Storm Flowage • A portion of the site lies within Floodzones VE el. 14 • No work will take place within the flood zone and no fill is proposed. • No adverse impacts are expected during any flooding event. Coastal Bank • There is a State Coastal Bank at the flood zone elevation of 14. The Coastal Bank was delineated in accordance with the Wetlands Program Policy 92-1. The bank does not meet the local definition as it is not seaward facing. • All work will take place outside the 50' buffer to the Bank and within existing landscaped/lawn areas. A backhoe is expected to be used for the removal of the existing structure. All machinery will access the site through the existing driveway. A silt fence is proposed downgradient of all work to prevent runoff into the resource areas.
