HomeMy WebLinkAboutP. Long Letter of OppositionTo the Barnstable Historical Commission: I am writing to express my strong opposition to the proposed changes to the historic Corcker house at 49 Putnam Ave Cotuit. I have grown up in Cotuit my entire life and have always enjoyed the deep historical connections that this town possesses. I have a significantly strong connection to the Crocker house with being an active member of the CMYC sailing organization as well as being life-long friends with the previous owners of the property. This gave me the unique opportunity to have experienced this wonderful historical site in a much more personal manner both the views from the water gazing up at the house at the top of the hill or sitting on that very porch looking out at the harbor after a hard fought Cotuit Skiff race with friends and family, relaxing and discussing the race. This house is a landmark that means so much to so many long time Cotuit families, it would be an absolute disservice and shame for the change to take place. The property should be enjoyed and preserved in its current state so many future generations can appreciate its meaning and character. Becoming a full-time Cotuit resident only makes me hope that common sense will prevail over money. Thanks, Patrick Long Cotuit Resident
