HomeMy WebLinkAboutBeaty Letter of SupportOKHHDC August 13th Meeting - Statement in Support of Application #3 – 240 Parker Road, West Barnstable, MA 02668 (Map 176, Parcel 015) To the Old King’s Highway Historic District Committee, I am Ronald Beaty, a resident of 245 Parker Road, directly across from 240 Parker Road, and I strongly support the applicatfon by Richard and Patricia Leahy to construct an additfon and screened porch at their property (Map 176, Parcel 015). This proposal enhances the home’s functfonality while respectfng the historic character of our cherished West Barnstable neighborhood. The Leahys’ plan to expand their modest 639-square-foot ranch, recently renovated in 2024, demonstrates a commitment to improving livability without compromising the area’s aesthetfc character. The additfon to the right side and rear, paired with a screened porch, will blend seamlessly with the existfng shingle-sided structure, maintaining the traditfonal New England charm that defines our district. The property’s 1.2-acre lot, abutting conservatfon land, ensures that the expansion remains unobtrusive, preserving the serene, natural ambiance valued by residents. As a neighbor, I appreciate the Leahys’ thoughtiul approach, which enhances their home’s utflity while respectfng the district’s guidelines under Chapter 470, Acts of 1973. The screened porch will provide a private outdoor space, harmonizing with the neighborhood’s quiet, dog-friendly environment. This modest expansion aligns with the historic ranch style and will not detract from the streetscape, as evidenced by the successful 2024 renovatfon that elevated the property’s value while adhering to district standards.
