Orbe 31 Hawes Avenue Hyannis, MA 02601 September 29, 2025 Barnstable Zoning Board 376 Main Street, Hyannis, MA 02601 Barnstable Zoning Board Members: I write this letter in support of the renovation project of Jack and Dale Lipphart at 51 Hawes Avenue. My mother, sisters and I own the house next door to Jack and Dale, at 31 Hawes Avenue, and we have spent our summers there since the 1970’s. We have known Jack and Dale for many, many years, and feel fortunate and privileged to have them as neighbors. Dale is constantly working on her plantings, and those at our house as well, beautifying the neighborhood and she frequently drops by with freshly baked cakes and cookies. And Jack regularly drops in to keep my mom, who is 96, company and to make sure she is faring well. They are fabulous, friendly and caring neighbors and dear friends. Jack and Dale are blessed with a growing number of grandchildren, making their current house too small to accommodate their children and grandchildren when they visit. When we learned that Jack and Dale had decided to renovate (and invest in our neighborhood) rather than move to a new location, we were relieved – they are critical members of our happy community and we can’t imagine it without them. We have reviewed the renovation plans of Jack and Dale. They are fantastic. The renovated home will be beautiful and will be a positive addition to our neighborhood. We wholeheartedly support their renovation – and excitedly look forward to seeing it when completed. Please let me know if you need any further information.
