Hi Kimberly,
If you could pass this along to the conservation commission that would be great.
Thanks!
Doug
Dear Conservation Commission,
I write this letter to you all in regards to the proposed project at 270 East Bay Road,
Osterville. Natural Resources and the shellfish committee are in complete agreement
that the dock prioritizes personal use at the expense of a sustainable shellfish
environment. A project of this scale to only reach 6” of mean low water, would be a
burden to our shoreline. East bay is home to naturally growing and spawning oysters,
the only area in town where this happens. The bottom is solid and conducive to
shellfish recruitment, and the natural resources survey graded an 8 of 10. Also worth
noting is the towns aquaculture program is less than 10 feet away from where the
proposed project will be placed. I encourage you all to put the health of our shores
first, and instruct the applicants to either utilize what they currently have or to place
their vessel in the dinghy storage at 230 East Bay road.
To whom it may concern,
Doug Crook Jr.
Shellfish Committee Chair
