HomeMy WebLinkAbout6-8-2026 Felicia Penn PB Letter 6.8.26 June 8,2026 TO: Jim Kupfer, Planning Board and Members From: Felicia Penn and Joseph Hoffman, 15 Daisy Bluff Lane, Hyannis, MA We write in favor of your agenda item from Town Council: to grant easements that will allow Great Streets to occur as along as the outcome slows traffic and increases pedestrian safety, as it purports to do. We are not in a position to comment on specific easements as outlined here but ask that you picture yourself standing at Azelton Park, facing North toward the Transportation center. If you look to the right you will notice South Street is all residential. This should be true of Old Colony north, too. Right now it’s a 2- lane highway screeching passed a 3 story apartment building. Old Colony needs to serve: 1. The people who live in this apartment building and cross the street to the market 2. People/ tourists who walk from Main St to the harbor 3. Hundreds who walk from the buses/trains We are greatly concerned that the town is considering blocking Old Colony South, which would eliminate the bypass of Ocean Street. Please consider making the easements contingent on making South Street and Old Colony in both directions more resident-friendly. 508-353=6331 f.penn@icloud.com
