I own 140 Maushop Ave together with my wife and have some concerns regarding planned construction
at 101 Maushop. It seems like the plan is to build a whole additional residence on the site unlike
anything else in this neighborhood. It appears to be almost 2000 sq. ft. additional floor space added
including upper and lower floors. This is big enough to be a 3 bedroom house. Can anyone put up a
similar structure? Presumably once present this could be used as a rental property or even undergo
additional renovation to make it more comfortable as a second home on site.
The expansion to 4 garage stalls on site also raises questions regarding intended usage. are there going
to be 4 or more additional cars on the street? Are there going to be construction or industrial vehicles
coming and going? Is this going to be the base of a business operation with additional vehicles coming
and going? When I come and go I often see little kids playing on the street. Are they going to be safe?
The driveway expansion provides additional concerns. The top of the hill where Maushop intersects
offshoot is already congested and adding a driveway will make it much worse and raise safety concerns.
After the snow earlier this year, I also have to wonder where all the snow is going to go? Or is it just
going to be plowed into offshoot? Back in 2014 or 2015 we had two successive storms that each
deposited 3 feet of snow. Further, isn’t some sort of set back from the back of the property required.
The proposed drive appears to overlay on the property line.
Needless to say, I am not in favor of the proposed new building.
