HomeMy WebLinkAboutDugas Letter of OppositionSeptember 6, 2026 Old King’s Highway Historic District Committee C/O Erica Brown Re: Resubmission of Rebecca Horn 101 Maushop Avenue, Barnstable Map 277, Parcel 01, Built 1975 Dear OKH Committee Members, I am writing to you today to express my concern and ask you to deny the resubmission of plans to construct an accessory garage serving the existing residence (which already has a garage) and the construction of a detached ADU building which will total three buildings to be located/erected within a private subdivision of single, family homes that has strict covenants attached to each deed within the private subdivision. While I have previously expressed my concerns about the proposals for this parcel to the new owners verbally, it appears that the concerns of others that reside within this subdivision are going largely ignored by the applicant. Three building/structures proposed for a single- family lot is excessive, unnecessary, will create visual, aesthetic, setting, and environmental disturbances/negative impacts to the surrounding area and those who share this subdivision. If this proposal were to be approved that action would set forth a dangerous presidence for future construction of three buildings on a single- family lot within this private subdivision which already has existing covenants meant to protect these types of projects from existing within the Subdivision plan of land for James K Smith; scale: 1”-40’; April 1973 recorded with the Barnstable County Registry of Deeds in Plan Book 290, page 32. I do not believe it is within this OKH Committee’s purview to take or approve such action. For these reasons I am opposed to this application. I urge this committee to deny this application which comes before you on the evening of September 9, 2026. Thank you for your consideration. Sincerely, Marcy S.
