HomeMy WebLinkAboutShriver Letter of SupportDear Erica,
As a neighbors and friends of Katie and Harry Alverson, we are writing in support of their request to
demo the dwelling and foundation located at 46 Washington St.
Our home is located at 70 Longwood Ave. We are the property adjacent to 46 Washington Street to the
west.
Before the Alversons purchased this property, we also looked at 46 Washington St for consideration of
purchase. We walked away from it because we knew that it was unsafe⦠ceilings were sagging, floors
were buckling, lead paint was peeling from the walls. It is far beyond a remodel. It is a complete tear
down, which was more than we could do. It needed a family like the Alversons who are committed to
updating the property the proper way. As it stands now the house is an unsafe place for a small child, or
even an adult, to live. We know that the Alversons purchased it with hopes that their daughter, son-in-
law and grandchildren could live close by them in a safe and happy home. What a beautiful vision!
The Alversons are longstanding members of the Hyannis Port community. Their roots stretch back for
generations. We know that they appreciate the history of Hyannis Port as they are part of it. They are
environmentally conscious and value the traditional esthetics of our beautiful harbor village. We are
confident that whatever they plan for that property will be totally in keeping with the beauty of the
surrounding homes and natural landscape. We wholeheartedly support this demo both for the physical
safety of the inhabitants as well as any updates that the Alversons will undoubtably do in the most
tasteful manner.
Please do not hesitate to call if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Mark Shriver
