HomeMy WebLinkAbout0342 FLINT STREETF^lin4 March 17,1977 Dear Mr.Larsons Thank you for the letter from the original oimers, Mr.&Mrs.Fair;for the information concerning previous activities at the Fair Acre Camp site.It is apparent that the cJbhp was very active diiring their years as owners* Perhaps the privacy of the surroundings made the area a popular one. As you are aware the area is now becoming densely populated and the noise now becomes a factor. My concern would be in having loud music which would cause a nuisance as to noise. If that element is controlled,I would find no objection to the continuation of camp activities -and recind my letter of July22,1976. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding for any inconvience. Peace, JDL/db Joseph D.DaLuz 3^Rando Lane Waltham,Massachuse tts Jan 12th,1977 Dear Chuck; Have delayed in answering your call because I am afflicted with a terrible condition called procrastination. Only other victims of this malady can understand what it means to have the gnawing thought that something needs to be done — but I will do it tomorrow or the day after tomorrow or the day after that never put off 'til tomorrow what you can -o^t off to the day after. So I apologize and hope you understand. Regarding your inquiry we have had many groups at the camp weekends during the years we-operated.Some enjoyed a Saturday picnic and others an entire weekend. These come to mind very quickly.^group of Waltham teachers from my school would come down a couple of times a year almost every summer for a Saturday outing and ditto for a group of teachers from Arlene's Newton system. Please understand that they were not our guests but were on their own.The Waltham Girl Scouts I have forgotten which council had several camp overs At Fair Acres on weekends durinf the years. We had weekend groups from boys residential camps up country, camp for to Sunday while these young sters visited the salt waters of Cape Cod. Groups of nuns appreciated the privacy of the camp on some Saturdays or Sundays,Here they could relax and swim away from public scrutiny. The youngsters from Hopefields that school for exceptional children in East Sandwich were fre quently here on Saturdays, again enjoying the privacy,We have soldiers from Otis on weekend training maneuvers bivouac over night at least once a summer. Two sport car rallies come to mind, held on a Saturday an outing club from Taunton pic nicked a religious group from New Bedford -all were on the place Saturdays. They would call and ask perraission--- having heard about our beach and facilities to have their outing or outings in succeeding years. Prom these that come to mind you can readily appreciate the fact that the camp area was used weekends by various groups during our ownership over the yfearb;Fair Acres is a beautiful spot and we were most happy to share the place with others when the camp was not in session,"Parting is such sweet sorrow"but we know that you and Mrs Larson love the place and will share it with others aside from the regular campers. Arlene Joins with me,best wishes for the new year for yourself and family and we shall drop by someday when the snow goes. i July 22,1976 Mr.Charles Larson Flint Street Marstons Mills,Ma. Dear Mr.Larsont On Sunday morning,July 18th,I visited your premises after receiving a couple of telephone calls.I spoke to Mr.John Marcoux who said he was preparing a took-out for Colonial Candle. And,of course,I spoke to you in your office in reference to activities unrelated to camping.I also spoke to Mr.Sullivan from Colonial Candle as I was about to leave. My office has had several telephone calls concerning the music and outside activities. It is my opinion that a second non-conforming use on the same premises would be in violation of the Zoning By-law,Section "G",Non- Conforming Uses, paragraph "B**. My position is that any further activity other than the Day Camp would not be allowed until such time of relief by the Board of Appeals and that any such activity will cause a con^lalnt In the First District Court to enjoin the use of said premises. It is my hope that you will take this matter to the Board of Appeals for a determination as per procedure. May you have a successful and safe camping season.
