Area Description (use additional paper, if necessary): The site consists of approximately 0.19 acres in.Osterville and abuts Nantucket Sound..The resources at the site are land under ocean, coastal beach and coastal bank. The site is presently developed with stairs down the bank. The bank is armored with a stone revetment.The stairs were repaired and relocated under DA-12074. The prior stairs had encroached over the westerly property line. An unintended side effect of the now existing stair location is that the lower end is located near the mid point of two stone groins where the natural shoreline scalloping only provides access at low tide. The new request is to relocate the lower part of the stairs approximately 24'west towards the existing groin where the beach elevation is higher, and which will provide access during significantly more of the tide cycle. r c. DA-12074 1. Stair relocation shall avoid trees,traverse clearing shall be tight to the stairs. 2. CCA-treated piling and structural timber(greater than three [3] inches thick) are allowed. Otherwise,no CCA-treated or creosote-treated materials shall be used. 3: The proposed stairs shall be constructed a minimum of one foot above grade without solid risers. 4. .Deck plank spacing shall be at least three-quarters (1/4) of an inch. 5. All demolition material shall be removed from the site and appropriately disposed of. The old stair traverse shall be revegetated, in consultation with the Conservation Agent. A recent survey revealed that the existing stairs are partially on an abutter's property, and therefore the stairs will be moved to new locaiton. The new location of the stairs was chosen to avoid as much of the natural vegetation as possible.
