Reference: 8 Cedar Street,W. Barnstable - Proposed Single-Family Home
Dear Chairman Wilson;
It has recently come to my attention that an application for a new house at 8 Cedar Street,W.
Barnstable is pending before the Old Kings Highway Committee. I would like to take this
opportunity to make you aware that my staff has reviewed the preliminary plan submitted to OKH
and has identified the following issues as potential impediments to securing a building permit:
❖ The Building Commissioner has determined that this lot lacks frontage and is landlocked.
❖ The applicant must demonstrate that he has obtained rights to utilize Desires Way.
❖ The access layout is located in an area designated as open space.
❖ The permission of the Planning Board is necessary to modify the open space plan.
❖ The Board of Appeals must grant relief.
Although the Old Kings Highway Committee is in no way prevented from approving the aesthetic
plans,the Committee and the applicant should be aware that the unresolved nature of the
aforementioned items will certainly prevent the applicant from obtaining a building permit.
Respectfully,
Tom Broadrick
