MASSACHUSETTS 02668 TELEPHONE (617) 362.6873 February 6, 1980 Mr. Joseph Daluz Building Inspector Town of Barnstable Town Ha Hyannis, MA 02601 Re: West Barnstable Village Businesses Association Sign at junction ofR6u:tes16q 6,149'' Dear Mr. Daluz:' After protracted proceedings'with the Town Committee and Regional Commission, 1 have secured historic approval for the erection of a sign at the above location. i - During the course of these proceedings, the'design of the sign as originally submitted to you was modified. The new design involves a •smaller sign which is less commercial in character. I submit herewith for your inspection details of the location and design of the sign as finally approved by the Barnstable Historic District Committee and upheld on appeal to the'Regional Commission. It is my understanding that the•size, character and location of the new sign is in accordance with the requirements of the sign code, as amended'. Please review the documentation to ascertain if this is correct. If so, I would appreciate your sending the permit to this office. MASSACHUSETTS 02668 TELEPHONE (617) 362.6873 Selectmen of the Town of Barnstable Trustees of Lombard Trust Town Hal Hyannis, MA 02601 Re: West Barnstable Village Business Association, proposed sign at junction of Route 6A and 149 Dear Sirs: This letter will serve as an update on the events which have transpired relative to the above matter since our exchange of letters in June and July of 1979, copies enclosed. Mr. Daluz advised me that Historic District Committee approval would be required in any event prior to the issuance of a sign permit. There followed protracted proceedings, both on the Town Committee and Regional Commission levels, which ultimately resulted in approval of a modified version of the sign. The new sign is smaller and less commercial in character than the other. I.trust that these modifications will meet with your approval. I enclose herewith detailed plans and specificiations for the sign as approved by the Barnstable Historic Committee, and a copy of my letter to Mr. Daluz advising him of their decision. I have drawn an easement which grants.permission to the Association to erect and maintain the sign on. the agreed Lombard Trust locus, and I enclose a draft for your review. I have had no indication as to consideration, thus one dollar has been used. However, the Association remains willing to pay a reasonable amount for the privilege of erecting the sign if the Board should deem it appropriate. Please review the new design and the form of the easement. If both are acceptable, I will submit the final draft of the easement for execution. Thank you. Sincerely, Peter A.
