First off, I had a voice mail (not sure of.date) from Deputy Dave at West Barnstable Fire and he said that he communicated with the state and was assured that the inspector was wrong in his code reference and that whatever is in that"shaft" now(heat detector?) is fine. A new smoke detector is not required and no action is required. They will be issuing a certificate for the lift. You may already be aware of this but wanted you to,know.
