SECTION 1.00 SITE WORK
1 1.01 Work Included
A. Demolish and remove existing structures
and foundations.
j B. Remove underground cables, Pipes and other
obstructions.
C. Abandon existing septic system, backfill or
remove structures.
I1: Relocate utility service connections and
water service connection.

E. Excavate for footings and grade walls,
fill and grade.
F. Install bituminous concrete pavement.
G. Perform landscaping and planting.
B. All other related items required to complete
site work.
1.02 Materials'
A. Gravel for surface and base for concrete slabs`
and grade beams shall be of the following gradation.

B. Bituminous Concrete Pavement shall conform to
Mass. DPW Type I binder and top course.
C. American Beach - culms shall consist of two or more
healthy stems 2-3 feet tall taken from an established
stand or purchased commercially.
1.03 Construction Methods
A. All structures and foundations designated for demolition
shall be removed from the site,. together with any debris
or obstacles encountered during grading or excavation.
B. Existing cesspools shall be backfilled with available
soil materials. _
C. Care should be taken to protect-existing power and
water connections which will be utilized for the new
structure. Water connection shall be severed and
fitted with a secure temporary cap.
D. Install bituminous concrete pavement on a one (1) foot
thick gravel bed extending three (3) feet minimum
beyond pavement edges. Pavement shall be laid in two
thick courses, one each of binder and top, and
compacted with a 10-ton minimum roller or other suitable
equipment as approved by the engineer.
E. Beach grass .shall be planted in culms 18'° o.c. 8 to 9 inches
deep and trimmed to 12" in height.

SECTION 2.00 SEPTIC SYSTEM
2.01 Work Included
A. Provide excavation, installation and backfill
for all .components of the septic system as
depicted on the plan.
2002 Materials
A. All precast concrete units shall be capable of
sustaining an AASHO-HS20-44 loading and shall be
as manufactured by Rotondo & Sons, American Precast
or equal.

E. Cast Iron Manhole covers shall conform to Mass. DPW
Spec. M8.03.0 and shall be as manufactured by LeBaron,
LK 110A or equal.
2.03 Construction Methods
A. - The septic system shall be installed in accordance with
all state and local regulations, plans and specification
provided and line and grades established in the field by _
the engineering department to within 10' of the building
lines of the proposed structure.
B. All pipe connections to the ;septic tank, "greast -trap and
distribution box are to be securely mortared in place..
C. All concrete brick or precast manhole sections and
manhole frames to be set in a full bed of_ ,mortar.

SECTION 3.00 FOUNDATIONS, WALKS and CEMENT CONCRETE MASONRY
3.01 Work Included
A. Concrete and masonry work`required for this project
includes, but is not necessarily limited to:
1)" 10" thick reinforced concrete grade walls
2) Grade beams and reinforced footings
3) Sidewalks and steps
4) Reinforced concrete floor slabs
j 5) Concrete unit masonry walls
3.02 Materials
A. Reinforcing bars #4 deformed bars meeting the
requirements of ASTM A-615, Grade 40:
B. Welded Steel Wire Fabric - 6-6-10-10 meeting the
requirements of ASTM A-185.
C. Cement Concrete

Minimum 28 day compressing strength 2500 psi.
Maximum aggregate size All
D. Cement unit masonry shall be eight inches wide by
I eight inches high by sixteen inches long, two cell,
slumped blocks in gray or natural color, and shall
conform with the requirements of ASTM C-90--70.
3.03 Construction methods
A. Grade walls shall be founded on virgin material at a
minimum of four (4) feet below finish grade, and shall
be flat and level on the underside.
B. Floor slabs shall be four (4) inches thick laid on a
compacted gravel base.
Pitch slabs carefully to drains where applicable and
finish all slabs to-a smooth hard troweled surface.:
C. Sidewalks shall be four (4) inches thick laid on a
compacted gravel base and reinfprced 'as shown. Control
j joints and edging shall be formed with appropriate tools
j in the fresh concrete after preparing a. broomed surface.
{ Place 15 lb. asphalt impregnated felt between sidewalk
and grade walls.
D. Concrete unit masonry shall be laid in a full bed of
i mortar reinforced with standard weight joint reinforcing
{ every second course. - A bond beam as detailed on the plan
shall be constructed to be continuous over all masonry
walls and partitions. Lintels over all openings shall
be A-36 steel angles`3 x 3 x 1/4 'extended six (.6) inches '
into supports. Cores in blocks under supports for rafters
or columns shall be filled with. martar or shall be solid
blocks.

4.02 Materials
A. 2" Nominal dimension lumber shall. be #2 I:D spruce
or equal.
B. 4 and larger rafters and ridge beams shall, be of good
appearance and shall be stress rated according to the
following:
1) Extreme fiber in bending 1100 psi
2) Modulous of elasticity 1P200,000 psi
3) Horizontal shear 65 psi
4) 15% MC
C. 2" Nominal decking shall be select eastern spruce
or equal.
a die Plywood sheathing shall be Standard C--D Ext. 32/16 5 ply
1/2" thick DFPA tested or equal.
E. Textured Plywood shall be Georgia Pacific Rough-sawn T 1-11
grooved @ 8" o.c. or equal.`
F. One (1) inch boards used as trim or shelving shall be
WWPA D select or equal, S4S, 1" x 4" or larger as required.
G. Roofing shall be 330 lb. GAF Timberline adhesive tab "
asphalt shingles laid in accordance with the manufacturer's
recommendations.
H. Siding shall be 16" white cedar extra grade shingles
5" exposure.

J. Interior paneling in the office, first aid room and
snack bar shallbe 5/8" thick vinyl faced gypsum wallboard,
Gold Band "Durasan" or equal and shall otherwise conform
with ASTM spec_ C36. Color and texture shall be approved
by the engineer.
K. All hinged doors shall be solid stave core flush doors
finished with rotary natural birch face veneer suitable
for painting. Doors shall be 1 3/4" thick with opening
sizes as per the door schedule on. the plan. Supply
Weyerhaeuser DSC-1 doors or equal.
Toilet room doors shall be provided with three butt hinges,

Toilet room windows shall be custom framed in masonry wall
as detailed on ,the plan.
All windows provided shall be single glazed with D.S.B.
sheet glass when optional.

4.03 Construction Methods
A. All carpentry shall produce joints truer tight and,

B. Fastening furring to block wall shall be done with
high carbon steel masonry nails fastened 12'" o.c .
C. Shower stalls shall be roughed in to receive fiberglass

SECTION 5.00 MECHANICAL f
5.01 Work Included
Work under ,this section shall include installation of all
supply and waste piping, valves, fixtures and ties to septic
system and water supply and any incidental work of a nature
that is normally associated with completion of a tested and
operable installation such as isdepicted on the plan.

Except for fixture connections and vents 2� inch size and
smaller ;all pipe and fittings shall be standard weight
cast iron hot coated. All pipe and fittings shall conform
to CS 188-66. -i
Vent piping 211 ,inch size and smaller shall be schedule 40
galvanized steel pipe made up with cast iron drainage fittings
C. Supply piping
Water supply piping shall be hard drawn copper tube with
made-up wrought or forged copper fittings and 95-5
antimony-solder. Below grade and below slab piping shall be
type "K"; all other copper piping shall be Type "L".
5.03 Construction Methods j
A. All fixtures shall be installed and tested in accordance
with all applicable regulations, and all connections
thoroughly tested. Hot and cold water connections shall,
be made with sinks in the First Aid Room and Snack Bar...
All other fixtures shall be connected with cold water only.
SECTION 6.00 ELECTRICAL
6.01 Work Included
i A. Work under this section includes supply and installation
of electrical service drop, conductors P conduit, switches, '
outlets and fixtures, and associated equipment, as is
necessary to provide a complete and operable electrical

service as depicted on the plan. ,
6.02 Materials
Electrical items of a smiilar type shall be supplied by a single
manufacturer and shall be equivalent to the following products:

A SECTION 7.00 TOILET PARTITIONS
7.01 Work Included `R
This section includes supply and installation of toi.letw
partitions complete with toilet paper holders. Metal
toilet partitions required for this work are indicated
on the contract drawings.
7.02 Materials
Metal toilet partitions shall be floor and wall supported
and factory finished with baked enamel in a standard color
selected by the engineer. Catalog information pertaining
to the toilet partitions shall be submitted to the engineer

and approved prior to ordering same.
7.03 Construction Methods
All metal partitions shall be installed in accordance with
the manufacturer's -recommendations.
