Dear Mr. Sullivan:
You are granted multiple variances, on behalf of your client, E.J. Brown, to install a
replacement onsite sewage disposal system at 76 Holly Lane, Centerville.
The variances granted are as follows:
310 CMR 15.211: To install a soil absorption system 53 feet away from an onsite
drinking water well, in lieu of the required 150 feet separation
distance.
310 CMR 15.211: To install a soil absorption system 3.3 feet away from the crawl
space.
310 CMR 15.211: To install a soil absorption system 1 foot away from the side
property line and six feet away from the rear property line.
310 CMR 15.211: To install a septic tank only 3.5 feet away from the foundation in
lieu of the ten feet separation distance required.
310 CMR 15.211: To install a septic tank only five (5) feet away from the property
time.
B.O.H. Part XI: To install a soil absorption system 100 feet away from a neighbor's
well, in lieu of the required 150 feet separation distance.

These variances are granted with the following conditions:
(1) The house consists of four(4)bedrooms presently. No additional bedrooms are
authorized until after the dwelling is connected to public water. Dens, study
rooms, finished basement, finished attics, sleeping lofts, and similar-type rooms
are considered bedrooms according to MA DEP.
(2) The designing engineer shall supervise the construction of the septic System and
shall certify in writing to the Board of Health that the system was installed in
strict accordance with the submitted plans.
These variances are granted because the existing cesspools are located in close proximity
to groundwater. It is the opinion of the Board that the proposed replacement system may
alleviate a source of pollution to the groundwater in the area.
