1. HEALTH AND SAFETY LAW: The work shall be executed in strict accordance with the
WILLIAr15-STEIGER OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND 1-I1 ALTH ACT OF 1970
2. PROTECTION OF WORf'.AND PROPERTY: General Contractor shall at all times protect work from
elements while carrying out Sections of Contract.
3. GLASS BREAKAGES All glass breakage caused by general Contractor and other Contractors
because of negligence or any other reason, shall be replaced by those reponsible at no cost.to
Owner.
4: �'ERVICE5:
A. Water: (?eeneral Contractor shall provide, protect and maintain all temporary lines and
connections from building water system, either outside or within buildings:
1. Water required for work under this Contract is available from existing building
water system and will be paid for, by the Owner.
B. Temporary Light and Power: Owner,shall pay cost of al l electric energy consumed by himself
and all Contractors.
C, Temporary Heat
1. General Contractor shall furnish at his own expense, temporary heat as required
to protect all work and materials against injury from dampness and cold and to dry
out the building, Fuel, equipment and method of heating shall be satisfactory to the
Architect, See requirements in detailed specifications for temperatures to be main-
tained for application of work under the various trades,
2. After-approval by the Heating and Ventilating Contractor and the Architect, as here-
inbefore specified, the permanent heating system may be used for temporary heat
under the following conditions:
a) Cost of fuel: Shal l be borne by Owner,
S. VEHICULAR PARKING Parking area for all vehicles of person-;emplcyed on the project shall
be as designated by the Owner. No vehicles of any type shal I be parked Ripon streets of the Town which
are in the vicinity of project site, and it shall be responsibility ofcontractor and each sub-contractor
to enforce these provisions among his own employees.

7. CLEANING UP;
A. Throwing from windows: At no time shall any rubbish be thrown from windows of
building.
B. Special Clemi a: in addition to general broom cleaning, Oeneral Contractor shall do
following special cleaning for all trades.at times designated by Architect.
1, Cleaningof all painted, de.orated and stained work,: Contractor shall remove all
marks,stains, fingerprints and other soil or dirt from all painted, decorated and
stained work.
2. Removing all temporary rotection: Contractor shall romovo all temporary,
protection and shall clean and/or polish all .surfaces which have become soi led
and/or abraded after- final cleaning and waxing has been performed as.required
under work of various subcontractors,
3. ' Cleaning and polishing of ail-hardware: Contractor shall clean and polish all
hardware for all trades; this shall include removal of all stains, all dust, dirt and
paint upon completion.
4. The Contractor shall clean all surfaces which are to be painted. �

11. PROGRAMMING; The Owner will cooperate in every way to expedite the work of this Contract.
12. DEMOLITION; It shall be the responsibility of the General Contractor to remove and dispose of all
materials, components and systems to complete the work of this contract. Refer to Drawings and
and all Sections of the Specification for items of demolition specifically called for under these Sections.
Demolition shall include,but not necessarily be limited to the following:

613,10 .GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: Part 1 - General Specifications and Division 1 of these
Specifications refer to ail Contractors and form a part of this Section.

Working Drawings to ascertain how Alternates affect work of this Section.
6B. 12 SCOPE: Furnish all labor, materials, and equipment, and perform all operations
required for the complete installation of all items of finish carpentry, cabinet work, millwork
and trim as specified and/or shown on Drawings.
A. Provide all incidental carpentry work and trim necessary for satisfactory completion.
Furnish and install various details as indicated on Drawings and involving any phase of
,carpentry work.

613,13 ,WORKMANSHIP: This Contractor shall employ only experienced, highly skilled "finish"
Carpenters to carry out the work of this Section.
A. install all factory fabricated and/or assembled materials in strict accordance with
manufacturer's directions,.
B. Exterior and interior millwork and trim shall conform to design and detail as shown.
Where practicable, work shall be finished and asscrob.led at mill:
C. All millwork and trim shall be finished smi�oth and free from machine or foal marks
that will show through the finish, Nails shall be finish type, and shall be set to receive
putty,
D. All joints shall be tight and formed to conceal shrinkage, I'litres q-inches or more from

All outside joints shall be made to exclude water and set in wl-iite lead paste or wateproof

613.20 GRADING AND SEASONING REQUIREMENTS OF FINISH LUr"}BER:
A. Moisture Content: Not over 12 percent for finish lumber, unless otherwise indicated or
noted. All lumber shall be kiln dried.
B. Quality:: Lumber shall be sound, thoroughly seasoned, well manufactured and free from
warp that cannot be corrected in the process of bridging or nailing. All woodwork shall
be dressed if exposed to view on outside of building or in finished interior spaces.
C Grade and Trade Mark Required on each piece of lumber (or bundle in bundled stock).
Use only recognized official mark of Association under whos6*ftles'it is grades, Grade and
trade marks will not be required if each shipment is accompanied by certificate of

6D.30 BATTER DOARDS: Establish permanent trench marls determined by a competent engineer
to which access can be easily had during the progress of the Work, and furnish and set sub
stantial batter boards on which the Contractor's-engineer (Professional engineer) shall
establish his limes. The Contractor shall maintain the same.and be responsible for all
