Page 3 of 4 Bamstable revised 05 APR 2004 1 - 1 i PROJECT DESCRIPTION RO PATIO & DECK RECONSTRUCTION 150 BAY SHORE RD., HYANNIS The Ro property is a lot of±0.43 acres lying northerly of Bay Shore Road and fronting on Lewis ' Bay in the village of Hyannis. It has been developed for residential purposes since the mid- 1940s. The shorefront is protected with a partly buried riprap wall which is over 30 years old. The pier at the site was permitted in 1999. d ' Resource areas at the site include: land under water; intertidal and su ratidal beach which p , appear to be accreting; a geomorphologic bank consistent with the riprap wall with a top ' elevation of f7'MLW (f5.5 MSL); and land subject to coastal storm flowage up to elevation 10' NGVD. The beach is sandy and predominantly unvegetated. The manicured lawn extends to the wall with no native plant materials. There is a hedge of yews outlining the patio at the lawn edge. ' The Project—The concrete deck is proposed to be removed and replaced within its existing footprint. Work will included: removing existing foundation plantings; cutting and removing the existing concrete and its iron railing;providing new footings; and pouring a new surface. Machine access will be required but all mechanized equipment will be confined to existing landscaped areas with a construction work limit established 25' landward of the seawall. To the extent that it is found to be necessary, the associated second story wooden deck will be repaired ' by providing new support posts, framing and decking. A decorative stone sitting wall will be ' provided at the edge of the concrete deck to obviate the need for a railing and to provide a decorative finish. The stone facing applied to the concrete may extend less than one foot beyond the existing wall line. The shrub bed will be replaced with yews and/or other woody salt tolerant shrubs or sub-shrubs such as: Hydrangea, Heather, Cotoneaster, Bearberry, Artemesia. (Wornwood), Amorpha candescus (lead plant), Dwarf Sumac, Fragrant Sumac, Bayberry, Beach Plum, Virginia Rose, or similar materials. Impacts ' Because all work is within existingaltered/develop ed areas, because all hardsca e will be more p p than 50' landward of the beach/geomorphologic bank, because siltation and construction control will be provided, and because all disturbed areas will be replanted following construction, no significant adverse impacts are anticipated to occur as a result of the project.
