Lt Cadrin Report By JLt Cadrin HYANNIS FIRE DEPARTMENT - INCIDENT REPORT COMMENT PAGE Incident No. A230918 Address 167 CORPORATION STREET Date of Report 8/27/2003 commanding Officer JU Cadrin Report By JU Cadrin Received a call from Mr. Sheffield reporting a diesel spill behind his store. We responded with E-826 to investigate and found an area approx 4x6 to the rear of the store amounting to approx 5-6 gallons. We used speedi-dry to contain the spill that was caused by a delivery truck that had filled its fuel tank prior to delivering furniture to this store. While parked behind the store the truck was at an angle where the fuel tank was on the low side of the truck, this caused diesel fuel to leak from the tank onto the ground. When the spill was discovered Mr. Sheffield call this station to report it. We spoke with the delivery company Spets Associates Inc. by phone and explained the situation to them. They agreed to cover the cost of a clean up company to remove the spill. We then called Enviro Safe Corp. and arranged to have then clean up and dispose of the fuel spilled. Mr James Guillet from Enviro Safe arrived on scene within the hour and used additional speedi-dry to pick up and remove the fuel. There were no drains or other environmentally safe areas affected, there was no fire involvement and no injuries.
