Mr. McKean: I am humbly requesting an extension,from the Board of Health, pertaining to the sewer deadline connection, at 54 Point Lane. For the last three and half years, I was accompanying my Brother daily to his medical appointments at the Danna Farrber Institute,Boston. Unfortunately he succumb to his cancer, Multiple Myeloma, even though he had daily infusions of chemo therapy, lasting four to six hours. Fifty-four point Lane sits on a two and a quarter acreage surrounded by Stewart's Creek on three sides. My intention is to add a second floor addition, which would include one additional bathroom, making a total of four. The property is sparsely occupied mostly during the warmer months of the year. No one occupies the house on a ongoing basis. Again unfortunately, my son has been presently in a Boston Hospital for fifty-four days and five family members sitting with him for a total of 12 hours each day. I hope to initiate the procedures to complete the finalizing of this property by the summer, if everything goes well. When occupied two people are using the property for a very short duration.This is not a rental property. The quote is for a gravity sewer line exiting the right side of the house (near gas meter) to the sewer stub at the street. The quote includes re-plumbing as needed for the main floor bathrooms and kitchen and not connecting the sink, shower, toilet etc. in the walk-out level. We will cut the asphalt as needed and dispose of the material — no asphalt patching or repair is included. The two permits required are also included - $25 from BOH and $420 from the sewer department. In comparison to your neighbors, none of them had plumbing of the basement with permit and inspection involved —they all had the sewer connection fee waved —they did not have asphalt cutting and disposal fees—and your run from house to stub is the longest. If you wish to permit the connection, we require a signed contract and the signing payment of$2,600.00. If you wish to use the loan.program, no payment is due from you. We still require a signed contract—they do as well, along with their requirements (completed application, copies of most recent federal tax return & mortgage payment). (This can save you thousands of dollars.) Please note: You must pay the installation cost through your own contractor. Please make your contractor aware of this, if interested. Also be aware: this is a shorter deadline than the Public Health Division's deadline on the reverse side of this page. SAVINGS AVAILABLE/PERMIT FEE: The Town offers a waiver of the residential sewer connection fee of $420.00 for those properties that connect within two years of the receipt of the DPW December 2012 letter.
