As my January`03,2006 e-mail states, I would reduce my current backlit roadside sign by about 50% to 44.5 sq ft per side. In Patty Daley's response on January 4, she said that"We will approve the 44.5 sq. ft per side sign, backlit". As far as the letters for:KFC-anl Taco_Bell on the_Buil—Id'ing , the only aspect that was discussed was the size of the letters and the placement on the 3 sides of the building. This was incorporated in the exterior elevations that we included in our building permit application. While we never discussed how they were going to be lit, I assumed that internally lit letters would be used. Thanks for addressing these issues and look forward to your response. I see no problems in terms of consistency with our Design and Infrastructure Plan. You will need to file a Site Plan Review application with the Building Department(I had wrongly assumed that you already had filed, as we had discussed your prior contact with the building department). I have a copy of the application which I can fax or send via overnight mail. You can also access the application and requirements on the web at www.town.barnstable.ma.us on the left hand side of the homepage, click on "Department Menu", then choose"Regulatory Services"then choose "Building Department" then, under"Permitting forms and applications" click on SPR requirements and SPR application. (If you want me to fax or mail, please provide the correct number/addresss). You will need to have an engineer stamp the site plan (so, you'll need to resolve whether the vegetated swale will be ten or twelve feet for that submission). In this district, a landscape architect must also stamp the site plan. I believe that six copies of the plans must be filed. Please call me if you have questions or concerns. I do not anticipate any problems once the stamped plans are recieved. The Building Dept. is aware that we have been working closely with you. I am available to assist any any way that you need. I propose to make those letters 13 inches high (the same size as the letters on the current side elevations) and center them midpoint between the top of the awnings and the roof. .On the site plan, Kate shows a"Do Not Enter'sign at the Drive-thru exit lane. In order to help traffic flow, I propose to add an entrance sign (measuring 11"high and 25"wide and the smallest one I can get)at the entrance curb cut. The sign would show KFC/Taco Bell ENTER At this stage I feel like a beaten man, so let me know what you think. I will call you at say 1:30 pm today to discuss. Remove the"Bell" and "Colonel's Face"from the front of the building, however add the letters "KFC"on the right side of the front to replicate the words Taco Bell on the left side , as to size and position. Even at our summer residence in Cotuit we have"Evans"on the front of our house. 2. To add the"Bell" and "Colonel's Face"on the parking lot side of the building. People coming down the road from the Airport Rotary into town center will never see them. As for the sign, we agree to wood framing/base planting as you described. As for the site plan,we will do everything that Kate has listed on the revised site plan that she did. On the site plan she had listed 7 new shade trees ,2 of which should be Red Maple or equivalent in the swale area.All 7 trees will.be 2"minimum caliper. In addition, in my discussions with Kate, she agreed that if the site engineer calculates that the parking lot water run off for the side parking lot could be absorbed by a 10 ft wide swale , the swale area could be reduced from 12 ft wide to 10. For building design,we prefer the building elevations as shown in the version 4 drawings. One exception is the front elevation shows a large cornel (sp?)and bell. We'd prefer no corporate ID on the building front. Let's see if we can come to agreement on this last issue. Finally, you will construct the site consistent with Kate's plan (I assume you and Kate worked out the issue about the two feet near the drive through).
