Pursuant to the attached decision, please be advised that the Barnstable Historical
Commission will hold a public hearing on the full demolition of the single family structure on
November 17, 2020 at 4:00pm. This meeting will be held remote via Zoom Meeting and can

Pursuant to Intent to Demolish Structure
The property located at 222 Fifth Avenue, Hyannis, is associated with the broad
architectural and cultural history of this area.
In accordance with Chapters 112-2 and 112-3 (D), the Barnstable Historical
Commission Chair has determined that this structure is a significant building.
This determination applies only to the demolition described in the notice of intent
submitted on October 21, 2020. Any future demolition shall require a new
determination from the Barnstable Historical Commission.

Pursuant to the Barnstable Historical Commission receiving your notice of intent on October 21, 2020, a duly
advertised and noticed public hearing was held on November 17, 2020 to determine whether the significant
structure identified as a single family home on this property is a preferably preserved significant building and
whether demolition delay would be imposed for the full demolition of the structure on the parcel addressed as 222
Fifth Avenue,Hyannis.
After review and consideration of public testimony, application and record file,the Commission by a vote of four in
favor(Shoemaker, Fifield, Parks, Powell)and one opposed (Clark),found that in accordance with Chapter 112F the
full demolition of the single family structure is not a preferably preserved significant building.
In accordance with Chapter 112-3 F, the Commission determined, by a vote of four in favor (Shoemaker, Fifield,
Parks, Powell) and one opposed (Clark), that the full demolition of the single family structure would not be
detrimental to the historical,cultural or architectural heritage or resources of the Town.
This decision applies only to the demolition described in the notice of intent submitted on.October 21, 2020. No
future demolition shall be permitted without application and approval from the Barnstable Historical Commission.
