ASSISTANCE TO OTHER AGENCIES
Received call to assist town agencies at above address. Upon arrival met with BPD, and
Zoning Officer. Advised that the tenant was taken into custody for a police matter. Entered
the duplex thru the front door observed a living room with several extension cords powering
a microwave coffee pot-and toaster oven. Also observed broken front window and area appears
to be a sleeping area. Large amount of trash and debris in this area. Limited access to
kitchen area and back utility closet. Furnace appears to be in operation large amount of
debris in area cannot view operation of the unit which appears to be putting out excessive
heat. Due to possible overheating of,unit requested the gas company to shut the gas and
lock the meter until a licensed plumber can service the unit. Smoke detector in the hall
with low battery and unable to locate carbon monoxide detector. Gas Company on loc 1451
Llocked out the meter. BOH on location issued notification that duplex was condemned due to
numerous code violations.
Several attempts to contact the owner while on location by BPD. I contacted Noel Santos and
left a message to contact the department ASAP to have all the corrections repaired. Two
messages left on phone.

Dear Property Owner,
This letter is to inform you that Regulatory Services canvassed the general area ofHiramar and
Fresh Hole Roads on Friday afternoon, March 4,2011 in,an attempt to assess the current
conditions of the properties located in this area.
This department recommends that all landlords personally inspect their property in order to
obtain an accurate assessment-of their individual rentals. For your convenience I am identifying
the findings in a generic list below:
• Broken window panes and storm doors:
• Failed glass
• Missing storm doors:
• Torn or missing screens
• Broken glass strewn along the perimeter of dwellings
• Broken glass surrounding dumpsters and in parking areas
• Peeling paint
• Uncontained outside storage of household trash
• Abandoned appliance`s_outside
• Missing or clogged gutters
• Failure to post contrasting house numbers .
• Rotting window sills and support posts
• Missing or broken outside lighting fixtures
• Blocked egress.including a rear exit nailed shut.
In addition, landlords should confirm that a]1.units have the adequate number of operable smoke
detectors properly placed as required and units relying on fossil fuels are also required to have
carbon monoxide detectors.:
