We have been shown plans and sight specifications for the building of an Engine Room designed to house a KOHLER 150KW natural gas fueled,liquid cooled generator to supply the emergency electrical needs of the Flyannisport Club's clubhouse.The noise reading capability of the planed building to house the generator will decrees the manufacturer's"unhoused".decibel level of 86-90dBA. The Club also assures us that they will have additional shrubs planted between our hedge and the engine room to further reduce any noise that escapes the building during its 20 minute once a week cycle and any sustained operation during a period of emergency electrical need. This unit will be pre-manufactured by A&A Sheet Metal (an FM approved vendor) and it will have a roof rating of(3) three hours. The walls on four sides will be (4) four-hour rated. The floor is not rated yet; it will be secured to a 4"poured in place concrete slab,which is inherently (4)hour rated construction. The building code classifies the storage of this type as"14-4" Hazard Use Construction. The adjacent use is "S-1"Moderate Hazard Use. Table 303.1.2 requires only a(2)two-hour separatioft between these different uses. I submit that the proposed storage container exceeds the code requirement even though it is placed beneath the roof overhang of the wood framed building. The wooden enclosure to be built by others. The sound level will be based on what the contractor is using to sound insulate the structure and what non-flammable materials will be used in the interior walls of the building.
