Generally the workmanship is of high quality and the deck structure is solid. There were a few items to be aware of ' • The 4x4 support posts are not well centered on the concrete piers in most cases. This is structurally acceptable due to the loading and load distribution spread through the piers. During fmished grading,the surfaces of the concrete should not be covered with soil or crushed stone. If they are to be covered,the covered portions of posts and concrete, -a . surfaces are to be sealed with a watertight weather seal. -� • A post supporting a 5 1/4 in. wide beam near the foundation is temporarily connect - to the beam with nails. A Simpson BC46 connector is to be installed for tl is-onnectiau. 5 • The inner side of stairs to the upper deck do not yet have the code required rail. • Two additional stair support posts were installed to stiffen the stairs. The lase ends�f PP these posts are imbedded in the concrete.It is necessary to firmly apply a waterproofing seal around the post interface with the concrete. Then, if the bases are to be covered with soil or crushed stone;the covered portions of posts and concrete surfaces are to also be sealed with a watertight weather seal. These are relatively minor issues that are easily taken care of. The decking, structure and stairs are very well done and are incompliance with spec requirements of the May 3, 2011 report. I spoke to a "Bill" . He told me about the cute apartment he had. He said he thought he had it rented. I sent him a letter and told him he had an illegal apartment and the choices to make it legal or remove it. He came in and told me that it had been there for a long time and he just wouldn't rent it again At that time I advised him to go into Amnesty. He came in a week or so later and said he wanted to go into amnesty. Nothing happened in 2005. Than in 2006 he has said he wants to go into amnesty again. He was in Feb. 2007 and picked up Amnesty package. There appears to be some question of his residency. If he stays in Florida 7 months out of the year, he is not eligible. He called me in June and said he was going to pay the tickets. It appears ,he has not. We still have the issue of the apartment if he pays the tickets or not.
