Crews were on site performing various site work. The exterior framing work was 100%complete but the contractor had not yet begun any framing work on the interior. The following items were noted and discussed: • The exterior framing appears to have been installed per the design drawings. BE verified that steel angles were present at the brand walls. 0 Interior work had not yet begun. As noted in field report#1,braces will be required above the 4 . storefront windows at the front and non-drive thru side of the building. BE verified above the existing ceiling that no bracing was present from the front wall to the steel beam as assumed. A framing crew was on site working on framing the drive-thru side parapet. The non-drive side parapet had been completed and sheathed and the front parapet was approximately 50%sheathed. The following' items were noted and discussed: `• The parapet framing observed at the front of the building and the drive-thru side of the building appeared to agree with the design drawings. It was noted that the parapet framing is pressure treated,which is acceptable though not required. • It was noted that the existing sheathing at the inside face of the parapets had not been cut down to allow for the new sheathing to overlap the existing framing as shown on the design drawings. The contractor stated that this was because the roofing at these areas had been tested and was determined to be asbestos containing and the hazmat consultant recommended not disturbing the roofing. While overlapping the sheathing is considered best practices,it is not necessary and can be,omitted to avoid disturbing the asbestos containing materials. • Work within the dining room had not yet begun. BE noted'the interior braces that may be required at the front and non-drive thru side elevations at the new canopies. It was brought to my attention yesterday that McDonald's has been denied their sign permit application. I spoke with Robin earlier today and she noted the existing freestanding sign along Route 132 comprises the total permissible sign are for the entire site. It's my understanding the freestanding sign area is approximately 10%of the building wall fronting on Route 132. Based on the same, Robin noted we would need to pursue relief from the ZBA for additional wall mounted signage on the building. Although there were customers and employees in the restaurant at the time,there were no reported injuries. A second car was also reportedly struck during the incident. The Barnstable building inspector was requested to check the structural safety of the building. Concerning the Architectural aspects of the project, with the exception of some minor interior and exterior work, the building is essentially Q, complete, ready to use and safe to occupy. The work completed looks good and, appears to be in conformance with the original working drawings. W General Comments: The electrical contractor has some lights and the bathroom exhaust fan to install. The plumbing contractor is making the final gas connections a cd to the fryers. The carpentry contractor is completing the finish work in the dining room and the kick plates for the bathroom doors. These trades are scheduled to be completed on 12/13. At the exterior of the building, the pavers for the sidewalk are being installed and should be completed on 1.2/13. The site contractor is .installing the remaining curbs. The final paving is scheduled to start 12/14. The landscape contractor is spreading the loam and is scheduled to complete the sod and plantings by 12/15. Pending completion of all remaining work and the required final inspections by your office and the Town of Hyannis, I would recommend-that a Certificate of Occupancy be issued. In no event shall the Surety be liable under any warranty provision in the Contract after one year from the date of substantial completion of under the Contract. 4.
