To the Barnstable Building Commissioner,
On behalf of the Hyannis Yacht Club, this is our annual request
for permission to park cars and trailers at our Ocean Street
property. The addresses are 320, 324, and 338 Ocean Street.
We have for events this season. The Interclub regatta is 4/28,
29. We expect a maximum of 30 trailers. The Sunfish regatta is
6/16, 17. Again 30 trailers. Our annual regatta is 7/26-29. We
anticipate around 60 trailers. The youth invitational is 8/8.
Again around 60trailers. These events last year did not require
a police detail. We managed the lot with member volunteer
very well last year. The time of year makes the first two small
events easily managed. For the annual regatta, we expect
trailer traffic the evening of the 26tn, morning of the 27t", and
afternoon of the 29t". For the Youth Invitational we expect
trailer traffic the evening of the 7t", morning of the 8t",
afternoon of the 8tn.

We've been retained by the Hyannis Yacht Club to design a structural slab for the : - -
relocation of the "Storage Building" (formerly the Patio Grilling Building) to 338 Ocean
Street, a vacant parcel owned by the HYC. ,
There are two points of information which I wanted to convey:
1. No site survey was available for the subject property. We obtained a GIS plan
from the Town and provided the minimum required setbacks on this drawing. If
you should determine that this plan is insufficient for issuance of the building
permit, please let me know and I will request that the HYC obtain a surveyed plot
plan. The HYC does intend to retain Baxter Nye Engineering to stake the
locations of the building before they pour the slab to assure compliance with the
minimum yard setbacks.
2. Due to the limited size and use of the Storage Building, the structural slab does
not need to meet full frost depth protection per the building code reference cited
below:
1809.5 Frost protection.
Except where otherwise protected from frost, foundations and other permanent supports
of buildings and structures shall be protected from frost by one or more of the following
methods:
1. Extending below the frost line of the locality;
2. Constructing in accordance with ASCE 32; or _ `
3. Erecting on solid rock. =
Exception: Free-standing buildings meeting all of the following conditions shall not be
required to be protected:
1. Assigned to Risk Category I, in accordance with Section 1604.5;

2. Area of 600 square feet(56 m2) or less for light-frame construction or 400 square feet
