Re; Sea Captain's Row Pleasant Streetand South Street dangerous structures _ Mr. Florence, As you are.aware, the structuresthat comprise.the site now known as Sea Captain's Row.,(specifically; . 43, 44, 56, 64,.66 Pleasant Street and two large structures at 86-South Street) have been on the Hyannis Fire,. Department's Abandoned &Dangerous Buildings List since June of 2014. When these properties were occupied they were maintained at minimum.levels. Now, after four, years of inactivity.they are dangerous. A recent inspection of these"properties finds the buildings in a state of.serious disrepair. All'of these buildings are unused,:uninhabited (with the exception of those who break in),-open to the weather and for all.. intent abandoned. Some efforts have been made to-secure the buildings but, this is an;ongoingYbattle as they are often broken into.Currently, the lots, have not had access restricted to them and are being used as a dumping ground. mattresses, tires and other debris is strewn about the lots and the lots are overgrown.with brush. In some, cases, thisdebris is:at or very near the lot lines exposing adjacent properties and occupied structures to potential harm in the event of afire. This location-provides`numerous locations for vagrants to "hang out or-otherwise use these sites. There is no consistent supervision of these sites.
