The W1Ox30 steel beam is sized correctly, as shown in the attached beam calculation. The steel beam is integrated into the wood framed dwelling because it is flush framed. It has wood fillers installed.in the sides of the beam,. 2XIOs's installed with joist hangers on the fillers, and wood panel decking installed over the joists. Because the steel beam is locked in to the wood frame, there is no structural requirement for connections of the beam to the 2x6 wall plates or the posts below.
