I enclose for your information and review a copy of our Application, transmittal correspondence and handouts that I provided from the Paul Herrick/Larry Newman book "Old Hyannisport". Craig Ashworth accompanied me to the meeting, and I am pleased to report that we were able to obtain a determination of "no significance" in terms of the proposed addition. Further, we obtained yesterday from the Cape Cod Commission a determination that the work does in fact represent less than 25 percent of the total gross floor area of the existing structure, and as a result the project will not be within the jurisdiction of the Cape Cod Commission as a developmental regional impact review. Cape Cod Commission staff did make a recommendation for a slight change to the plans which would result in a demarcation between the existing historic structure and the new addition. Craig Ashworth and the architect on the Historic Commission last evening discussed methodology to accomplish same, which as I understand it will involve a slight "bump in perhaps as small as a few inches" where the new second floor addition begins and the existing house ends. Therefore, based on our discussions and review of the Barnstable Zoning Code, this will confirm our understanding that the expansion may be permitted by right pursuant to section 240-92(A) without the necessity of obtaining zoning relief.
