We have been successful in obtaining necessary approvals. We understand that the Foundation Permit is valid for a period of .six months. In our case 19 March to 19 September, but that it can be extended subject to our letter request and your approval. We had hoped to have the foundation completed by 19 September 1990, but now realize that this will not be possible, for the following reasons: o We have been working to complete final revisions to our house plans and the construction specification, but it has taken ourselves and the architect much longer than expected. We just received proposed final plans from the architect for our acceptance this past Tuesday, 7 August 1990. o We have also been discussing the project with several building contractors, including visiting some of their completed homes, as well as following up on individual references provided by them. We are presently narrowing down our choices of contractors to just a few that will receive our plans, specification and proposed contract for pricing/bidding purposes. o The bidding process will take several weeks, in order to give selected builders adequate time to respond. We have been attempting to completed all appropriate steps in an orderly manner, so as to avoid problems and changes once the construction has begun. If we did not have to still work for a living, I am sure we would be farther ahead; but, we both have fairly demanding jobs. In view of the above, a six ( 6) month extension of the subject foundation permit to 19 March 1991 is requested. If an extension of six months is not allowable, then we request an extension for the maximum time period permitted. A response letter to this request would be very much appreciated.
