We believe this completes necessary documentation required for the permit for this work. As the materials that we, in partnership with the Town of Barnstable Conservation Commission, have provided document, this bridge will mark a significant step forward toward the restoration of this important herring run,,as envisioned by the plan developed by the Town of Barnstable and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Division of Marine Fisheries, from 1971 through 1999, when Permit SE 3-4617 was first issued. Over the last 15 years, our non-profit organization has raised the funds necessary for this bridge, which will augment the fish ladder at the south end of Lake Elizabeth, the box culvert under the Sandy Lane, and the phragmites management, which we have undertaken over the past several years with the assistance of the Barnstable County Americorps team. This project has been and continues to be a model of planning and conservation for Barnstable and Cape Cod, and we trust that this final link will be accomplished in a timely way, as summer is upon us and the footpath must be returned to public use soon. Thank you for reviewing-the attached materials„ and, we hope, providing our contractor with the building permit and necessary inspections required to complete the bridge.
