My home is 222 Pine street on which I currently have an,open building permit. The work is still ongoing and is inspected at regular intervals as work progresses. I do not know if this is a mistake as you inspected the rental I own , and determined from old Town records, inspections done for separate units for heat and electric , and.separate utilities and metering that it is a 2 family home and has been. , s I have responded to letters from your department several times, by phone calls and fax, yet this claim still persists. Now I received this notice of a fine. Please let me know what can be done. On another matter, I have had one of my customers at 114 Centerville Ave, in Centerville-that was notified that she had an illegal apartment . I did all the work on this home, it was thoroughly inspected by all Town departments, and the fire department as well as a final inspection by a member of your department and there is no way this can be mistaken as anything but a single family home. The home has not been occupied since Last April . I have asked Jeff several times to issue a final on this4proper'�, for over 6 months and he has not saying he needs the smoke deteetor _ inspections , (which have been done since last year) . The inspecto�who f did the final said he could not sign the permit as Jeff did the other inspections, and Jeff was on vacation at the time. The customer's husband died in the middle of the project and she is just now moving to the ape. 2 I also had a call from Jeff recently asking about a permit I took out on my home. The permit is still open from 2002 as I have not finished my house , as I am living here as I remodel , yet have always had all inspection done as I progress. He now wants to come by and see my house that has already been inspected. This I not acceptable. These actions by members of your department are not acceptable. I thoroughly understand the difficulty of your job and your departments job. Yet I am not sure if it is coincidence or some form of harassment . I do not know if Jeff is the issue, as every project I do and he inspects he has an attitude. It is not my intention to blame him for something that may not be. Nor is it my intention not to follow the Building Code or other regulations. We have spoken about this before and I would appreciate some solution. I never have a problem with any other inspectors, building or otherwise from Barnstable or any other Town. January 29, 2008 Douglas Williams 222 Pine Street Centerville MA 02632 I received an ammoniums complaint September 6, 2006 about an illegal apartment in the rear of the property located at 222 Pine Street Centerville MA. I sent Mr. Williams a letter regarding same September 27, 2006. No response. Second letter was sent February 21, 2007. No response. I ticketed him March 23, and March 29, 2007. He has had contact with Tom Perry and has had his attorney go to Tom Geiler to try to get us to go away. He applied for a building permit 1-11-2002 for an addition-remodel-add 2 baths-connect to garage— build barn. The plans show no finished space over the garage where the apartment is. Only a bath. Mr. Williams has met with Tom Perry and has shown him a set of plans much like the ones on file with the building permit. They show this area with an apartment, kitchen included. Mr. Williams has told Commissioner.Perry that Richard Stevens, a former inspector, gave him permission to have the apartment. Tom disagrees. Mr. Williams also argues that he should not be ticketed because he does not own the property. He says it is in trust. He is a trustee and he signed the building permit as the owner. Mr. Williams and his attorney have discussed giving the town an affidavit that this property will be used for family use only. Tom Perry will not accept same. I have nqoL een the apartment.
