Pursuant to the Barnstable Historical Commission receiving your notice of intent on May 28,2019,a duly advertised
and noticed public hearing was held on June 18, 2019 to determine whether the significant structure identified as a
single family structure on this property is a.preferably preserved significant building and whether demolition delay
would be imposed for the full demolition of this structure on the parcel addressed as 1462 Main Street,Cotuit. -
A Notice of Intent to Demolish a Significant Building for a full demolition of the building at 1462 Main Street,
Cotuit was previously submitted on January 29,2019.Following a public hearing on March 19,2019,the
Commission determined that the building was a Preferably Preserved Building,requiring that no demolition permit
may be issued until 18 months after the date of the determination.The applicant the submitted a Notice of Intent to
Demolish a Significant Building dated March 25,2019 for a partial demolition of the building at 1462 Main Street,
Cotuit to allow for the building to be relocated to a separate property with no delay.At a public hearing on April 16,
2019,the Commission determined the building in its original location was not a Preferably Preserved Building in
order to permit the relocation of the house.
Following additional investigation and research by the applicant's representatives, the applicant submitted Notice of
Intent to Demolish a Significant for the full demolition of the building.on May 28, 2019:-After review of.new
information and consideration of public testimony, application and record file,the Commission by a vote of four
(Jessop, Fifield, Mumford, Powell) in favor, and three abstaining (Clark, Shoemaker, Parks), found that in
accordance with Chapter 112F the full demolition of the single family structure is not a preferably preserved
significant building.
In accordance with Chapter 112-3 F, the Commission determined by a vote of four in favor (Jessop, Fifield,
Mumford, Powell) and three abstaining .(Clark, Shoemaker, Parks) that the full demolition of the single family
structure would not be detrimental to the historical,cultural or architectural heritage or resources of the Town.
This decision applies only to the demolition described in the notice of intent submitted on May 28, 2019.No future
demolition shall be permitted without application and approval from the Barnstable Historical Commission.
