I would send you a copy of the plans to make it easier, but our scanner is down, so I can't at this point. They are proposing a standard rectangular pool with a 1/4" per foot slope from the shallow end (4' deep to start) for a length of 21', then they have a"transition pt." where it switches to a 1" per 12" slope for 8.5' of length. The deepest point in the pool is 5'. Is this allowable? My interpretation of the code is that it is not, because the code says"slopes in the pool floor shall remain constant..." It then says exceptions to this may be made by the BOH for irregular shaped pools. My understanding is that the intent of the constant slope requirement was so that non (or less able) swimmers don't get confused when the slope changes at a different rate and they could slip under if they can't touch the bottom from their familiar sloping of the bottom. Am interpreting this correctly? The design engineer says that our Town is not interpreting the code and that it is OK to have a different slope and transition point in the shallow end. I will try to send you a copy of the plans if that helps when the scanner is operational. Thanks, David W.
