Please let me know if it makes sense or if there is anything we should add Thanks for your help Peter Dear Health Division This letter is to document the actual number of bedrooms and rooms per Title 5 definition at 531 Main Street in Osterville, and to affirm the adequacy of the existing system to handle a pending renovation. The septic system was repaired in the spring of 1996 under permit no. 96-144. The problem is the septic as-built card which is on file at the Health Division shows 4 bedrooms, which was and is true for the main house. However, there are two existing dwellings on this2.97 acre parcel, both of which were constructed circa 1940. Assessor's records show that at the time of the 1996 repair the second dwelling contained 3 bedrooms. Capacity calculations for the existing septic system per the 2006,Code yield 6 bedrooms. Or per section 310CMR15.005 the system as it presently exists has a capacity for up to 13 rooms.' Today there are 9 rooms in the main house, and 2 rooms in the cottage (reduced from 3 during a renovation in the 90's). It is two different dwellings on the same lot. It is just one kitchen-cottage has no kitchen. Under definitions of bedrooms it states single family dwellings. Would you interpret my situation as single family dwellings with the operative word being"dwellings". The engineer that I am dealing with is hanging his hat on that. Thanks!
