After reviewing the architectural plans with David Munsell, I believe that the proposed location of the addition, and modifications to the existing structure will create a balanced layout of the property. I understand that the existing setback on the west side of the property is within 15 feet, and further addition to the structure would not comply with regular zoning setback regulations. However, most of the dwellings along historic route 6A have been modified in this exact manner since many of them were built over 100 years ago without required orientation. These modifications that have been approved and constructed have added character to our ever changing and historical highway. I have been a resident of the town of Barnstable my entire life, and a resident of Barnstable Village for 20 years. I pass by the Munsell’s residences every day on my way to and from work. For the majority of my residence, the carriage house has been run down and dilapidated. The Munsell’s made an effort to revive and renovate the structure to a traditional form. The building is indeed in need of further structural repairs and the plans that support the proposed addition look quite appropriate for the neighborhood. The architectural plans directly represent a similar style to antique homes within 1/2 mile of 3077 Main Street. Thank you, Daniel Philos-Jensen
