We are currently closing on a new home at 72 Hillside Drive in Centerville and have sold our Hyannis home so our disabled daughter could have dependable housing and a decent standard of living. 72 Hillside has a connected set of rooms,accessible across a breezeway/carport where Amber could live with us,have independence but always near our help. The ONLY reason for purchasing this house was that it was ideal for our purpose - to take care of our daughter who suffered the results of head injuries as a child and repeated cancer and hernia surgeries as an adult. She suffers from anxiety and agitation that can be acute at times. Her cancer,with a prolonged treatment of radiation and chemotherapy,has left her with long-term fatigue that seems to come and go. The Centerville property was sold to us as having a modest food-preparation area consisting of a countertop,sink,micro-wave and refrigerator. Neither we nor the realtor were informed this area was added- but never permitted -by the original owner. We request a variance to finally legalize this area for our daughter's use. She=all of us really-need the degree of privacy and independence this accommodation allows. My wife and I are getting older. It was a crucial decision, at our age,to step up to our daughter's needs. We have to move to the house now. Our Hyannis home is sold. Our daughter has given notice and her apartment will be occupied by the first week in July.
