SHELLFISH SURVEY RESULTS:
A shellfish survey was conducted on September 23, 2022 by Shellfish Biologist
Elizabeth Lewis and Shellfish Technician Benjamin Sacco. The survey began at
approximately 5 P.M. with low tide occurring at 5:22 P.M. (+1.3ft.). The survey was
conducted by boat using a lined (3/8” mesh) jerk rake.
Due to the extreme high tides, gale force winds, and most likely a storm surge
from weather off the coast, Natural Resources conducted random sampling within the
modification footprint focusing on the area where the expansion would occur. The
substrate was tacky and consisted of thick, silty muck that was black and anoxic. The
texture was almost gelatinous in ever y pull. I have included pictures below. No shellfish
were found.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:
Due to the highly anoxic layer of muck within the modification footprint and
unsuitable habitat for shellfish, Natural Resources has no objections to this project at this
time.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth A. Lewis, Shellfish Biologist
