You are granted permission to abandon your underground fuel oil tank at 161 Maple Street, West Barnstable, in lieu of testing it as required, with the following conditions: ( 1) All the oil and sludge contents of the underground tank shall be removed on or before October 1, 1991. (2) The underground tank shall be removed from the ground within two (2) years of the date of abandonment. (3) You shall obtain a permit from the local fire department prior to removing the tank from the ground. (4) All the other state and local regulations shall be strictly adhered to during the removal transportation and disposal of the fuel oil tank. The variance is granted because you stated the underground oil tank will be emptied within the next sixty (60) days. Also, during the removal of the tank, the ground will be inspected for contamination by a fire department inspector.
