At this time the proposed zoning is not approved and is before Town Council for their consideration. Current Barnstable Zoning Ordinance - Required Maximum Heights per Zoning  Harbor District – 35’, 2.5 stories and the half story can only occur within habitable attic space.  Medical Services District – 38’, 3 Stories and the third story can only occur within habitable attic space.  For hospital uses: the maximum building height may be extended to no more than 85 feet or a maximum of six stories not to exceed 85 feet Proposed Amendment to Downtown Zoning Ordinance Maximum Height per Zoning  Hyannis Harbor District – 35’, 2.5 stories  Downtown Village District (replacing much of the medical services district) – States minimum and maximum floor heights. The ground story is always counted as one (1) story, except that a single ground story over eighteen (18) feet in height is counted as two (2) stories and Each upper story is counted as one (1) additional story, except that any upper story over sixteen (16) feet is counted as two (2) stories. DV is limited to 3.5 or 4 stories maximum.
