Jansson Chairman Zoning Board of Appeals 367 Main Street Hyannis, Ma 02601 Dear Mr. Jansson: Re: Revised Proposal Forest Estates Chapter 40B Comprehensive Housing Application Old Stage Road, Centerville z The Board of Health stated it would be difficult to disallow the original proposed 72 bedrooms, 36 unit project at this site, per the letter to you dated September 27, 1988. We applaud your efforts granting approval for only 24 units. It represents a step forward. At it's May 2, 1989 public meeting, the Board voted to approve the concept of the revised proposed construction of 34 units, with the addition of 2+ acres of land to this site. Again, the septic tank capacities and leaching area requirements shall be increased by at least 50% over Title 5 requirements. Tile 50% would be in addition to the required 150% of the design flow for the septic tank and never less than the minimum 1,000 gallon tank. With the additional 2+ acres, it would be difficult to disallow this project in view of it's unpalatable alternatives. Sincerely yours, Grover C. M. Therefore, the Town of Barnstable Board of Health Regulations requires a 150 feet minimum separation distance to abutter's wells. Currently, the 150 foot minimum separation distance applies to both single family onsite sewage disposal systems and multi-family onsite sewage disposal systems to abutter's wells. However, DEQE regulates separation distances from multi-family septic systems to onsite wells. Enclosed is a copy of the DEQE brief notice of Drinking Water Regulations.
