I conducted a life safety inspection at this facility on March 8, 2012. I inspected all the units at this
multi-unit commercial business. The structure is a two-story wood frame structure that has ground-thru
the roof fire wall separation between every two units. The subject property in question is listed in our
database as 110 Breed's Hill Road Barnstable Business Bays. I am aware that the Town has the address
listed as 152 Breed's Hill Road.
The email indicated that the address was 108 Breed's Hill Road, which is inaccurate. 108 is the F.W.
Webb company and Cape Cod Recycling is not in that building. I inspected 108 Breed's Hill Road on
March 13, 2012.
The subject property in Unit#8 is office use on the Independence Drive side and garage storage space
on the Breed's Hill Road side. The unit showed signs of a storage facility in the garage area for used
items. I was told that the person stores these items that will later be sold,similar to a consignment
store. I am not aware if they are actually selling items out of this unit or not. Exits were clearly defined
with operating exit signs and emergency lighting. There were clearly defined aisles throughout the unit.
Fire extinguishers were up to date and serviced and I found one extinguisher blocked in the garage
storage area, which they immediately cleared while I was on site. The garage has a large amount of
stock, but did not in my opinion, constitute an immediate fire hazard. The storage area was full but
appeared to be stacked relatively appropriately for the use. The parking for the complex is located on
the Independence Drive side of the structure and typically has many parking spaces available. I do not
believe that there are clearly defined handicap parking spaces, but the parking area is striped and
visible.
