Under state law, Chapter 148, section 26F, a copy of which is enclosed, a sprinkler system must be installed whenever a building is over 7500 gross square feet of area, unless insufficient water and water pressure exists. Mr. Shields is maintaining that because of the decision of your Board which prohibits supplying water to the storage units building, that he does not have to comply with the statute, because the Board ' s decision means that "sufficient water and water pressure." does not exist. The District i disagrees, and believes that it was not the intent of the Board of Health in its decision to prohibit water in the building for the purposes of fire protection as mandated by section 26F. I would respectfully ask that the Board clarify its decision, and to specifically allow plumbing to the extent necessary to install the ` sprinkler system. I would be happy to appear before the Board if you think it is necessary in order to explain the matter further. I do not see any language in the statute which would allow a Fire Chief - or any municipal agency - to waive the requirements of the statute. The garage door installation and opperation will be impacted upon if the corner of the door pilaster is lost. : Therefore remove the wall in question and step-in .from the.pilaster, allowing enough room to install 4 the track and an inside wall return. The roof load can rest on the top wall plate (set-in) as the floor is in excess of 8" at this point. Off-site I continue to. negotiate with the Town of Barnstable Counsel for an approval of Fire Wall and Exterior Wall location and construction requirements. Earlier last week a tentative agreement was reached allowing 2 ea 2 hr masonry block endwalls to be constructed. I have provided all parties with a letter of agreement thru Northside Architectural Associates. The following truss approval is provided with commentary: R8253-2+3-R1G Perimeter box and band 11-7/8" TJI joist will provide lateral restraint along special cut end of truss.
