Falmouth,MA 02556 sttuctuml•civil-environmental RE: Structural Review of Proposed Solar Panel.Array Installation,Parke Project 56 Deacon Ct.Barnstable,MA Dear Mr.Wineman, McKenzie Engineer Consultants,Inc has completed review and analysis of the roofs stems for g p Y y the proposed installation of solar panel arrays for the garage located at 56 Deacon Court in Barnstable Village. We completed analysis of the solar panel systems for gravity loads and wind uplift loads based m on the layout information provided by your office. We used ASCE.7-05 to derive the wind uplift pressures and the snow loads on the proposed solar panels using the curreacode wind speed of 110 mph in Exposure C.. We used the Unirac analysis software with various connection spacings to determine the maximum design uplift and down pressure on each. .. connector. r We reviewed the photovoltaic systems using a typical 48"on center connection conditions as shown on the plan. The maximum derived uplift on a connector was.determined to be 130 ` pounds. Using 5/16"x4 1/2"lag screws,,the allowable uplift is 474 pounds and are therefore adequate to resist the design uplift.. The joists consist of 2x8 spaced 16"on.center. The maximum.derived downforce for the connectors is 219 pounds. The analysis of the loads on the 2x8 rafters indicates the roof rafters I are adequate to support the design downforce. If there are any questions on this matter, feel free to con V t 4 Sincerely, MARK A. McKENZIE co Mark A.Me Ff Pres.,McKenz onsultants,Inc. Much time has been spent investigating the documents concerning this property.Originally a definitive plan was submitted to the Planning Board on July 24,1972;however,there was no record of that plan on file with the Town Clerk's office as required by statute. Section 6 of Chapter 40A of the Mass.General Laws would have pro tected this subdivision plan for seven years after the date of submission to the Planning Board upon their approval. The plan in question had expired in 1979.In 1973 a modified plan was filed and that expiration date would have been 1980. Because of our present zoning that lot has lost its protection, and would new be subject to the 70%upland requirement which was passed at the Annual Town Meeting in November 1973,Article 156. Based i:pon the facts as I knew them a building permit would not be issued on this lot.You may appeal my decision through the process with the Zoning Board of Appeals. I trust the foregoing will clari:fy my position as to viiy I find this lot unbuildable at this time. \ Peace. Building Commissioner cc:Atty.Lewis Stillman P.O.Box 203 Yarmouthport,MA 02675 Zoning Board of ^^jpeals JDD/dm
