Many homeowners who use this exs.wption arc unaware that they are assuming the responsibilities of a supervisor(sec Appendix Q, Rules&Regulations for Licensing Construction Supervisors,Section 2.15) This lack of awareness often results in serious problems,particularly when the homeowner hires unlicensed persons. In this case,our Board cannot proceed against the unlicensed person'as it would with a licensed Supervisor. The homeowner acting as Supervisor is ultimately responsible. To ensure that the homeowner is fully aware of his/her responsibilities,many communities require,as part of the permit application, that the homeowner certify that ht./she undcrsttsds the responsibilities of a Supervisor. I reviewed the existing framing comprised of 2"x6"'s @ 16" o.c. roof rafters and 2"x8" @ 16" floor joists at the second level. In order to extend the existing dormer about 14'-6" a framed ridge of 2— 1 3/4"x7 1/4" LVL's with new 2"x8"'s @ 16"o.c. rafters are required. A reinforced floor with sistered 1 3/4"x 7 1/4" LVL's with existing 2"x8"'s @ 16 o.c. will support the dormer wall and the new living area.
