COMPLIANCE STATEMENT: The proposed building design represented in these
documents is consistent with the building plans, specifications, and other
calculations submitted with the permit application. The proposed building
has been designed to meet the requirements of the Massachusetts Energy Code.
The heating. load for this building, and the cooling load if appropriate
has been determined using the applicable Standard Design Conditions found

AIR LEAKAGE:

envelope that are sources of air leakage must be sealed. Recessed
lights must be type IC rated and installed with no penetrations
or installed inside an appropriate. air-tight assembly with a 0.5"
clearance from combustible materials and 3" clearance from insulation.

The Massachusetts State Building Code(780 CAM includes provisions to ensure that houses and
house additions meet energy efficiency standards. This supplemental CONSUMER 24FORMATION
FORM is to be filed as part of the building permit application when a builder/contractor or homeowner,
constructing/installing a house addition with very large percentage of glass to opaque wall,seeks to utilize a
special energy conservation exautption option for "sunroom" Additions to an existing house (780 CMR,
Appendix J, Section J 1.11.3,1). This FORM is not intended to prevent a homeowner from selecting a
"sunroom"of any sin, configuration, orientation,form of eonstmetion or percent glazing,but rattier is only
intended to assist homeowners in becoming aware of some of the important energy conservation and year-
round comfort considerations involved in selecting and utilizing a"sunroom"addition.
Ue connection of "sunroom" structures to midential buildings my create comfort and energy
consumption issues due to uncontrolled solar gain or uncontrolled radiation cooling of the main house. In
the selection and construction/installation of"sunrooms",included below is a non-required,open-ended list
of product and design considerations that a homeowner may wish to consider. before wally
constiucting/installing a"sumoom". It is recommended that consumers carrdWly review these options with
their designer, builder, or contractor, in order to- minimize potential energy consumption and/or house
discomfort issues. In addition, the qualifications and reputation of the company or individuals to be mired
are important considerations.
