Proposal: Construct new 560 sf substation
Dear Mr. Carey;
Please be advised that the aforementioned project was approved by the Building Commissioner
administratively on Jan. 27, 2005 with the following conditions:
• The applicant must utilize hay bales during the construction process.
• All run-off must be contained on site.
• Install lock box and provide access to Fire Dept.
All construction and site work must be completed in accordance with the approved plan entitled
Nantucket Electric Company, Merchants Way Substation No.109, Barnstable, Massachusetts,
Nantucket Cable Project, Merchants Way Substation, Site Development Plan, Prepared and
stamped by Richard Costa, PE on 1/12/04, consisting of one sheet and identified as H-77841-P.
Upon completion of all work, a registered engineer or land surveyor shall submit a letter of
certification,made upon knowledge and belief in accordance with professional standards that all
work has been done in substantial compliance with the approved site plan(ZO Section 4-7.8 [7]).
This document shall be submitted prior to the issuance of the final certificate of occupancy.

the island of Nantucket. No wastewater shall be discharged on the lot and no other uses shall be made of the lot

Dear Mr. Perry:
I write to you in your capacity as the Building Commissioner for the Town of Barnstable
and specifically with reference to your authority to administer and enforce the Zoning Ordinance
of the Town of Barnstable. I would ask that you confirm to me in writing, the location of the
Ground Water Protection Overlay District on the property shown on Assessor's Map 297 as
Parcel 86. I have enclosed a plan prepared by Capesury dated February 8, 2003,upon which is
located a Groundwater Protection Overlay District/Aquifer Protection Overlay District line
which bifurcates the lot. For your convenience I have highlighted that line in red. I would ask
that you confirm that this line is accurate in its location as it pertains to the premises. Please
advise if you need anything further to make that determination.
